Although Marcel is now 58 and has been with SARIS for over 40 years, he still has the same passion and enthusiasm as when he started. His 40-year dedication to 65 years of SARIS history is impressive to say the least, even though he brushes it off cheerfully.
“My enthusiasm won’t wane, but hopefully my body holds up too. About twenty years ago, I had to stop playing football because I got too many injuries. Nowadays, we’re much more focused on ergonomic work; for example, I can use the hoist to lift heavy parts, which makes the work much lighter. When we were young, we just grabbed the lighter axles by hand! It’s uncertain whether I’ll make it to 50 years; I’m not really thinking about it, but I think I’ll retire just before then!”
